Etna Rosso, Girolamo Russo, a Rina", 2021Famed winemaker Giuseppe Russo of Girolamo Russo has been instrumental in the recent surge in popularity of Mt. Etna wines. In his early years, Giuseppe had his eyes set on his career in music and literature. However, in 2004 he returned to his hometown of Passopisciaro to tend to his father's 18 hectares of 100-year-old vines planted to varietals native to Mt. Etna. He rose to fame within the region after studying under some of Etna's greatest producers: Frank Cornelissen, Marco de Grazia of Tenuta delle Terre Nere, and Andrea Franchetti of Passopisciaro. As a classically trained pianist, Giuseppe is no stranger to precision and focus. His spellbinding wines of extreme elegance and depth can only be created on the volcanic terroir of Mount Etna. His a Rina" bottling exudes bright red berries, sweet spice, and a faint hint of tobacco displaying the true essence of Mt. Etna.88

Passopisciaro, "Passorosso", 2022The Sicilian region of Etna is unlike any other wine producing region in the world. Most notoriously known as the home of Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, one would not consider this to be an ideal place to grow grapes. Dangerously steep, rocky slopes, unpredictable weather, and the threat of volcanic eruption at any point? Very few are up for the challenge of making wine under such extreme circumstances. The work of these daring vintners results in wines made with the region's indigenous Nerello Mascalese grape like Passopisciaro's: energetic fruit & smoky earth with an elegant structure, making Etna Rosso the next big thing for Burgundy & Piedmont lovers131
