About Veneur
It’s as if there’s no limit to how many great restaurants can open in Amsterdam! Some of the guys from Michelin-starred restaurant De Juwelier, including the chef (Michelin’s promise of the year) and former sommelier, joined forces to open their new culinary haven on the border of the traditional Canal District and youngster neighbourhood De Pijp. Seems like the perfect match.
Beautifully refurbished, Veneur has the grandeur of a traditional, polished, Parisian restaurant that has been there for years. The food is of an extraordinary level and the team shows guts by putting offal on the menu next to lovely vegetarian dishes. Oh, and don’t forget the desserts. Everything is à la carte, so you can go all out if you want, or not.
The wine list also feels like it’s been worked on for years, with lovely diversity. It mostly features good references from the classic European areas, but promising names in those regions, too. They have serious stemware, decanters if needed, and a lovely vibe for neighbourhood guests (who generally have a bit more to spend than the average person on the street). Well done.
