De Badcuyp Wine List
About De Badcuyp
Translating as “a bathtub,” De Badcuyp opened in April 2024 and has fast become a great addition to Amsterdam’s food and wine scene. Located in the famous AIbert Cuyp market in line with Zoldering, Troef and De Juwelier, dishes are à la carte and are for sharing if you like (but don’t have to).
De Badcuyp is wonderfully run by a young team of 20-something guys who have worked their short lives in great places such as Rijsel, Troef, two-starred Flore and Bar du Champagne, then joined forces to put their own mark on the food scene. Food is honest, no fuss and ingredient-driven and Joep really likes to use the open fire where he grills entire turbot or sweetbreads on demand – and does it fantastically well.
Wine is handled with care. The list is obviously nascent and not that extensive, but it already has great (some aged) references with the help of importers. Who else has domaine Leroy Bourgogne Blanc 2014 on the list during their launch period? (I can mention this, since we drank the last bottle…). You’ll find mostly small growers and all are European. Stemware is excellent and service is attentive with good personal advice.
A warm, playful young promising place with a fantastic vibe that attracts many Amsterdam food lovers from all backgrounds. Well worth seeking out.
