Boon & De Koot

The sister venue to Restaurant Zoldering, and the newest Amsterdam addition from the four-strong team behind it, is Boon & de Koot, which boasts a lovely French bistro vibe. There is a row of café chairs and tables outside, and a small, higgeldy snug, packed tightly with sofas and chairs in every corner. I love eating at the bar counter, where you get the chance to chat with the staff, or at least admire their professional and quick moves in preparing the beverage orders for the other tables.

The menu covers delicious nibbles, with a handful of starters and mains that could tempt anyone. On the wine side, the list is well curated, with a small selection by the glass (note: if the team realises you are a wine lover and excited to try new or unknown producers, this list becomes somewhat flexible!). Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations if you’re feeling brave – it pays off giving the sommelier the task of choosing your next bottle.
