About Storstad
Storstad - Swedish for “city” - is a throwback to Chef Anton Schmaus’s time in Stockholm when he worked at F12, and is located in one of the small, mediaeval streets of Regensburg. This was his first solo project which he launched in 2014 after years of culinary travel in Sweden, Switzerland and New York - and it is still the nucleus for all his new ideas, as he and the Storstad crew never seem to stand still, with four restaurants now in their stable. After the successful launch of Storstad, the second venue Sticky Fingers was opened in 2016, Café Antoinette in St. Emmeram Castle in 2017, and the Aska sushi bar in 2019. As well as his day job, Schmaus is also the head chef for the German National Football Team. At Storstad guests can leave everyday life behind, and embark on a culinary adventure, along with enjoying stunning views of the town’s historic architecture. The finest dishes are prepared by the chef and his team, who mix traditional food from the Northern Bayern region with exotic dishes from all over the world.
Storstad is not only an important destination for exciting gastro concepts, but also for highly talented sommeliers. Before Anna Rupprecht took over in 2018, there were two high-profile women at work here; Alexandra Himmel – now in Restaurant Lafleur ** in Frankfurt – and Nancy Großmann – now in Grill Royal, ex-Chef Somm at Rutz ***, in Berlin. The wine list has a strong focus on Germany, France and Austria, with virtually nothing from Italy and even less from Spain. You can try to ask for a Lugana or a Rias Baixas though. Most of the guests will choose the food and wine pairing but the list itself is worth more than a mere browse.
