The Pentonbridge Inn is a relaxed one-star restaurant with rooms, set in a former coaching inn on the windswept English and Scottish border, offering an eight-course menu, showcasing everything their ‘Cumbrian larder’ has to offer, including produce from the walled kitchen garden at nearby Netherby Hall.
The wine list is short and classic featuring familiar varieties and regions, with the occasional quirk from Canada or Hungary. Its trump card, however, is that every bottle is also available by the glass, all at exceedingly fair prices, allowing maximum flexibility when it comes to choosing what to drink. Not sure? Try everything! And if you don’t want to have to think at all, opt for the pairing – a short flight of wines served with each course.
