The Black Bull Wine List
About The Black Bull
A restaurant with rooms in a former pub in the village of Sedbergh, technically in Cumbria but geographically on the western edge of Yorkshire Dales -it makes an ideal base for exploring both national parks in one fell swoop.
The kitchen is stocked with local produce; dishes are inspired by the contrasting cultures of the chef Nina’s Japanese heritage and James’ English Country upbringing. There’s a variety of menus on offer: bar snacks, à la carte, 7-course tasting, Sunday lunch, pie nights and outdoor specials. Essentially, there’s something for everyone.
The wine list has been thoughtfully curated, and specialises in organic and minimum intervention wines plus a few familiar favourites. There are around 50 or so still wines, affordable Grower Champagnes, some interesting rosé and orange plus a few specials/one offs. Prices for glasses and bottles are very approachable. This is a great little list that’s as accessible as it is interesting and quality-driven.
