When a renovation spans eight years and costs $2 billion, expectations run high. And now that the Waldorf Astoria hotel has finally reopened, in all its Art Deco splendor, the property’s Lex Yard restaurant is also the talk of the town.
Helmed by award-winning chef and partner Michael Anthony, who also serves as executive chef at the iconic Gramercy Tavern, Lex Yard’s menu is a tribute to seasonal American cuisine that emphasises quality ingredients. In addition to the vast selection of trophy bottles (it is the Waldorf Astoria, after all), the list also pays homage to its location by showcasing an array of top-tier New York wines, something that is sadly missing from too many lists in NYC.
