Camille feels timelessly hip, with its delicious French provincial fare providing a backdrop to a thorough two-page wine list with a low-intervention edge. It is exclusively French and designed to give you wines with a sense of place, with plenty for everyone to explore. I have spotted some unicorn wines waiting to delight a savvy wine lover though lots at reasonable prices too, from well-regarded producers and regions. The by-the-glass list changes with the daily specials board, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
Have a chat with the staff about the wine – once they get a feel for what you are looking for and your budget, they might suggest some unlisted bottles or new discoveries, offering an interesting story to match. For those in a hurry, the great value “Plat de Jour” plus drink offer at lunch (Tuesday to Friday) is ideal.
