Nyetimber to celebrate the 2023 Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer

As the countdown to the finals of the 2023 Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer begins, Nyetimber is preparing to join the celebrations at the Winemakers Club in London on 20 February 2023.

“The on-trade is a key channel for Nyetimber in the UK,” said Barnaby Richardson, UK Head of Sales at Nyetimber. “It offers a personalised experience to consumers, as they get to try Nyetimber's wines, often by the glass, in an environment designed for maximum enjoyment.”

He added that sommeliers often become advocates for the wines they enjoy, which can have a virtuous effect on categories. In the case of English sparkling Wine, it has “allowed for consistent growth since the beginning”.

Celebrating the on-trade

Britain’s Nyetimber is a renowned maker of traditional method sparkling wine ― and Richardson says the on-trade has been pivotal in spreading the word.

“Even now that the category is established, the on-trade continues to support Nyetimber's push for innovation and artistry,” says Richardson. “The launch of Nyetimber's Prestige Cuvee, 1086 by Nyetimber, received a tremendous welcome from sommeliers and proved that there is room for innovation and creativity.”

Not only that, but what happens in the on-trade also sparks creativity at Nyetimber.

“The on-trade will always hold an essential place for us, as it provides an important platform to interact with consumers and allows us to understand the industry’s sophisticated and ever-changing landscape,” said Richardson. “We will always look to keep a strong connection with the thought-leaders of the on-trade community to keep ourselves informed and forward-thinking.”

The final of the 2023 Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer will be held on 20 February 2023 at The Winemakers Club in London. The winners of each of the eight international categories will then compete against their global peers at the International Final in Stockholm on 19 June 2023.
