Coqodaq’s 400-strong fizz selection earns Best Sparkling Wine List in New York 2025
Fizz and fried chicken? It’s clearly a winning combination! Coqodaq has taken the Gold Star for Best Sparkling Wine List in the New York metropolitan area at Star Wine List of the Year New York, during an awards ceremony held in Manhattan on 5 May 2025.
Since opening in early 2024, Coqodaq has turned into quite the destination for its club-like atmosphere and quirky concept, which serves “better fried chicken” alongside a 400-strong selection of sparkling wines – thought to be the largest in the USA.
Judge Salvatore Castano called the list “a true celebration of bubbles” and explained that the jury had been impressed by the fact that it offers “an exceptional mix of passionate growers and iconic Champagne maisons, incredible value that makes great wine accessible to all, a standout selection beyond France, and an impressive line up of back vintages that showcases depth and dedication.”
The Gold Star for Best Sparkling Wine List was presented by category sponsor Oddbird, and the Coqodaq team now goes on to compete in the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025 – a global awards ceremony will be hosted in Vienna this coming June.

• Wanda Mann – wine writer and presenter
• Salvatore Castano – Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa 2021 (ASI)
• Paz Levinson – Best Sommelier of the Americas 2015 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
