Table, Donkey and Stick Wine List
About Table, Donkey and Stick
I’ll try to write this as professionally as I’m able, because I adore Table, Donkey, and Stick. Consider even that the subtitle of this small, rustic bistro & wine bar is “crusty bread, brandy, fire” - how could it not be exceptional? Table, Donkey, and Stick is tucked into the Logan Square neighborhood, a short jaunt from downtown Chicago (and a fun area for trendy new food and drink options). Their menu is gently alpine-themed, with an excellent selection of cheeses and charcuterie, and a regularly changing array of small plates. A few (very delicious) entrées are on offer, but the menu clearly highlights the concept of sharing.
The wine list is concise and fun; interesting and very affordable options emphasize alpine regions, and the spirits collection is sure to amaze those of us who are into stronger stuff. To make things even more fun, they always have special bottles open, nightly wine features, wine dinners, and more - keeping the selection a constant excitement. A true neighborhood vibe, where your server is instantly your best friend for the night, and when you stop for a single happy-hour drink, it accidentally becomes a four-hour adventure into vintage Riesling and grower Champagne. Every time.
Those of us who travel often know the value of “getting away from the main drag” - I’m one to ask the bartender at the trendy restaurant: “Where do you go when you get off work?” In Chicago, Table, Donkey, and Stick is where.
