Driving up the curvy road to La Morra in Barolo, almost at the top is where you find the big spectacular villa of restaurant Bovio. A traditional restaurant that has been owned by the Bovio family for generations. In the summer, you can sit outside and enjoy the fantastic view of Langhe, and the fresh breeze. Or in the winter you can sit next to the fireplace in their fancy dining room.
The menu is broad, with almost too much to choose from. I come here every fall to enjoy their spectacular porcini fritti (fried mushrooms). Once you ask for the wine list, you will receive something the size of a dictionary. The list holds everything you would want when visiting Langhe and Italy. Why not enjoy a bottle of sparkling wine with age from Trento and continue with a Nebbiolo from one of the nearby crus?
This is a place where you can enjoy a typical Italian dinner, and people love it! Well-made food and high-quality ingredients have people coming back for years. I do recommend to book weeks in advance as it is very popular.

A brisk walk from the top of the hill of La Morra will take you down to Bovio in just under 10 minutes. Like so many places in Piemonte, the view is impeccable from the spacoius terrace where the hilly landscape, covered in vines and surrounding world famous Barolo villages is all you see. The wine list must weigh at least a couple of kilos and will keep you busy for the better part of the first half hour. Ask for two if you are only dining with one more person. If you are more than two people, the others can keep each other company while you browse the endless pages of Piedmontese and other Italian wines, great Champagnes and local bubbles, a couple of pages are kept for other foreign wines. But if you are looking to try some older vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco, you've come to the right place!
