Bar Tartare

Already a serious fixture on the Vancouver natural wine scene, Bar Tartare occupies the bright and airy space that is Birds & The Beets cafe in the daylight hours. In the spot that was once graced by Juice Bar, Bar Tartare is taking up a similar vein - a locally beloved natural wine bar with a local and further afield wine selection, and a rotating chef presence in the kitchen.

There is no wine menu, as such. Make your way to the big, well-lit wine fridge and strike up a conversation to figure out what you’re going to have. Prices are listed directly on the bottles with a marker so you’re not in (overt) danger of overspending, which is helpful. The vibe is ultra casual, and glassware is limited to small ISOs. A small number of options are offered by the glass, changing regularly and explained expertly by a loquacious, lovely, and knowledgeable front-of-house team.
