Melinda Joe is an American journalist based in Tokyo. She has covered food and drinks in Japan and around the world for more than a decade and writes the drinks column "Kanpai Culture" for The Japan Times. Her work, which has been translated into four languages, has appeared in publications such as Conde Nast Traveler, Eating Well, Departures Magazine, CNN, and Newsweek, among others. A certified wine and sake specialist, she has served as a panel chair for the sake division at the International Wine Challenge since 2014.
