Estonian sommelier Mikk Parre fought off challengers Pascaline Lepeltier, France, and Martynas Pravilonis from Lithuania in the final in Serbia. Mikk Parre is the new 2024 ASI Best Sommelier of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The Baltic states are clearly having their moment in the sommelier spotlight. Last year, the Best Sommelier of the World was won by Latvian sommelier Raimonds Tomsons. And this year its neighbours won gold and bronze in the European championship.

At the end of a competition that had started with 41 candidates from across Europe, Mikk Parre received the gold medal from the previous champion Salvatore Castano.

Parre has previously been named Best Sommelier of Estonia, in both 2022 and 2023, and Best Sommelier of the Baltics in 2022 and 2024.

And on top of that, he has won Gold Stars with Star Wine List of the Year in the Baltics.
