A hat trick for Eleven Madison Park – Best By the Glass List in New York 2025
For the third year in a row, Daniel Humm’s iconic Eleven Madison Park has been awarded a Gold Star for the Best By the Glass List in the New York metropolitan area, at Star Wine List of the Year New York 2025.
At an event held in Midtown on 5 May, the restaurant’s General Manager and Wine Director Gabriel Di Bella accepted a Gold Star for the by-the-glass section of his more than 200-page wine list, after winning the same award at our events in 2023 and 2024.
“This globetrotting by-the-glass wine list beautifully showcases a mosaic of styles, varietals, and regions,” said judge Wanda Mann, a wine writer and Star Wine List’s New York Ambassador. “On its pages, iconic producers share space with up-and-coming innovators; it shows that a by-the-glass list can be more than an afterthought or understudy. With myriad selections, this elegant and exciting list encourages wine lovers to explore beyond their comfort zone and make exciting discoveries.”
The Gold Star was presented to Di Bella by Etienne de Nantes, Sales Director for the category’s sponsor Maison Barrière.
This three-Michelin-star restaurant also received a Gold Star for the Best Austrian Wine List, giving it two chances for further victory at the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025, into which it has automatically been entered. We hope to welcome the team to our global finale in Vienna, this June.

The expert jury panel for Star Wine List of the Year New York 2025 comprised four global wine experts:
• Stephen Wong MW – sommelier, judge and consultant
• Wanda Mann – wine writer and presenter
• Salvatore Castano – Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa 2021 (ASI)
• Paz Levinson – Best Sommelier of the Americas 2015 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
