About De Reiger

It’s impressive what the people from Restaurant Entrepot managed to do in just a few years. While there are restaurant groups that open as many places as possible, aiming to please as many people as possible with a bland concept, these guys really put soul into the places they start or reboot. After taking over the traditional neighbourhood spot Café de Druif (The Grape) they did the same to De Reiger (The Herron), turning it into a buzzing, roaring, honest café-style restaurant.

Expect simple, unpretentious food that is extremely affordable and well executed. It’s undoubtedly inspired by Parisian bouillon, but with an authentic, historic Amsterdam vibe.

And there’s wine too, let me tell you. Don’t expect high-end grand cru Burgundy or Bordeaux here, but a focus on artisanal, small-scale wineries – mostly organic and touching on the natural side. Playful, fun, honest wines for prices that you’ll rarely find in a major city, especially so centrally located. From day one, De Reiger has become a new classic on the Amsterdam food scene.
