Across from one of the most monumental cellars in Paris – that of the Four Seasons Hotel George V – the Bvlgari Hotel manages to stand apart with one of the most singular Italian wine lists in the city. Its originality is the remarkable space given to women winemakers working in organic and biodynamic viticulture, embodied by some of the most committed female figures in the Italian vineyard, in a selection designed to embody, in the house’s own words, “the chic and feminine side of the Maison.”
The list, composed by Manuel d'Ercoli, is not limited to this conviction, however, and casts a wide net across the peninsula, from the Marche to Sicily by way of Piedmont and Tuscany, without disdaining fine French references and at prices that don’t require joining the mob. All of this in an ultra-chic but never showy setting – a softly lit salon with long velvet banquettes and a luminous bar, where perching at the counter at aperitivo hour, Franciacorta in hand and cicchetti within reach, is an art form in itself.
