Walter Benedict Wine List
About Walter Benedict
At the end of the Hague's nicest restaurant street, the Denneweg, there seems to be a collective of wine freaks. We already knew Bouzy and the famous Gouden Ton wine shop (the first one of this lovely wine shop chain), but how could we have missed Walter Benedict? A warm, neat, 40-something-seat place in the heart of the city that’s open daily from 09.00 till 23:00. And that in times of huge staff shortage. Bravo!
The staff is very friendly, the food is nice, but more importantly: the wine list is one of the best in the city. A great selection of fantastic Burgundies, Piemonte Nebbiolo and all sorts of other nice finds for prices that will make you go bonkers. The German/Austrian section deserves more attention (why no Riesling by the glass?), but surely that will follow soon.
Also good to know: there’s both a terrace in front and a cosy garden in the back. The owners also own beer bar Franklin and recently (2024) opened Bowie, which apparently also has the same fantastic wine list and great food, we’re told.
