Reiler Hof

This classic family hotel is located in the town of Reil in middle Mosel. Reiler Hof and its restaurant Heim's offer a large terrace on the tree-lined main street facing the river. The service is friendly and warm, and the restaurant is open all day, a rare thing in small villages. Heim's is unique in that you can get a typical German snack like currywurst and a glass of wine in the late afternoon or a casual high-level five-course menu. They do both very well! The food is top quality and expertly prepared. They probably should have a star and perhaps will in the future.

The wine list is well selected, with many small producers from Reil being included alongside the modern Mosel classics. It is divided by style and quality level, with Riesling playing the leading role and Mosel reds adding a unique balance to the list. If you are tired of Riesling, they have a small but solid selection of nice French reds as well. Retailer Hof is a regular stop for the regions' winemakers and is worth checking out if you are in the area.
