The word ‘buddels’ is a typical term for ‘bottle’ in the northern part of Germany. Restaurant Buddels is located in Deichstraße (pronounced ‘Dykestrasse), the last remnant of old Hamburg. Most buildings here date from before the 19th century. Buddel offers a small menu, but one that has a strong focus on local products. There’s a lunch menu as well. Must dry: the different variations of tarte flambée. The wine list has a strong focus on German wines with a lot of small and lesser-known producers, plus a nice selection of natural wines, and everything at a fair price.

Located in the Hafen district, around the corner from the Elbphilharmonie, this wine restaurant has a great view over the harbour and a relaxed wine bar vibe. Kinfelts owners Maximilian Wilm (Best Sommelier Germany 2019) and Kirill Kinfelt (a local Michelin Star chef) wanted to create a fun, relaxed place to enjoy great wine. The food menu is “international casual fine dining” meaning you can get pasta, regional specialities and steaks. The menu changes often; however, the local favourites like truffle pasta keep a fixed spot on the otherwise very seasonal menu. The restaurant's design is fl...
