About Merlot D'Or Wine Bar
Housed in a beautifully restored 1930s hardware store, Merlot d’Or Wine Bar is a place with a soul of its own, where original wooden shelves once stacked with metal tools now display exceptional bottles. Located just a stone’s throw from Prague’s Old Town Square, this intimate 30-seat wine bar and shop attracts a lively mix of locals and international guests.
A reference for French wines in Czechia, Merlot d’Or works with a portfolio that is around 90% French, complemented by a focused selection of top Czech producers such as Gala and Gurdau, plus a handful of European classics. The cellar is serious – 50 % Bordeaux, 30 % Burgundy, 10 % Champagne, with vintages ranging from 1926 to today, including legends like Pétrus 1943 and Romanée-Conti 1982. Under head sommelier Milan Krejčí, guests are often invited into the cellar to choose a bottle.
A French bistro menu – from raclette to pâté en croûte – pairs seamlessly with a rotating by-the-glass selection. Awarded for its heritage design and apothecary-style charm, Merlot d’Or offers a rare blend of history, warmth, and grand-cru ambition.
