In just a few years, Le Cercle has become a pilgrimage point for anyone exploring the Loire and its natural wine scene. Its extensive selection of organic and low-intervention bottles makes it a destination for both professionals and wine enthusiasts alike – whether you’re in for a glass or a full bottle. Some classic bar snacks, charcuterie boards and small plates are also on the menu.
Now co-owned by Joseph Mosse, of the eponymous winemaking family, it’s an essential address right in the heart of Angers, mere steps from the Place du Ralliement. The by-the-glass offering is impressively broad and expands to whatever the team feels inspired to open on that day. Many of the natural wine heavyweights are represented, but you’d be missing out if you didn’t follow their lead towards their latest discoveries.
Cosy and unmistakably French, the bar can get pretty lively – even crowded and festive – especially when wine events take over the city.
