About Hugos No. 19
Hugos No. 19 is a wine bar a bit outside of Copenhagen, split across two levels – a bar at the entrance and then a coy basement which is connected underground to Hugo’s Kælder, a beer hall with more than 200 different beers and a large selection on tap. Hugos No. 19 also has a good selection of cocktails, if you need something besides wine. Foodwise, they serve a selection of tapas including cheese, canned seafood, charcuterie and salty snacks.
They have two wine lists here – “selections of the week” is a vibrant and variable offering accessed via a QR code; and then there’s the regular, printed list. If you are nearby on a Wednesday, I recommend you go for the themed tasting, which changes each week.
The broad list spans both the Old World and the New World, though focuses on French and Italian wines. There is a unique selection of Taylors Port with age, and versatile bottlings of the “special categories.” Almost all the wines (around 200) are served by the glass at a fair price.
