About Communal Table by gēn 根
Communal Table is another project by chef Johnson Wong, who is also the same person behind gēn 根, one of the top fine dining restaurants in Penang. Communal opened its doors to serve modern Asian cuisine but using seasonal and local Malaysian ingredients in a more creative and playful way.
The wine list is curated more towards low-intervention approaches, since that style of wines makes them naturally more suited to pairing with the dishes. A concentrated list with some hidden gems from the Czech Republic and Slovenia by the glass.
