D's Wine Bar is one of the wine bars that I trust the most when I am ordering my wine by the glass as they provide one of the best glasses for tasting, and the by-the-glass selection usually holds some unusual examples. It opened in December 2022 with the idea of being an educational wine bar, according to manager and sommelier Happy Gan. The wine program in D's mainly focuses on grower Champagne and Burgundy, but also includes wines from the Loire, Bordeaux, the Rhône, Galicia, Priorat, and Catalonia, with some detours to Italy and Australia as well. If you are lucky, you might find some ra...

Address: Lot 2133, Off Krokop, 10, Jalan Datuk Edward Jeli, Miri
Nestled discreetly in Miri, a small little township in Sarawak, Cellar 12 is open to anyone who enjoys fine wine. The wine bar is now led by head sommelier Michael, who believes that great wine should be both accessible and properly cared for, no matter where you are in the world. The venue is small and cosy but designed for discovery, conversation and appreciation of some of the world’s finest wines. Cellar 12’s wine list is filled with hidden gems from around the world, although it focuses more on Old World wines, especially those from France. In addition to wines, the list also features f...

Best Newcomer List Southeast Asia, presented by Minuty 2026
Racines was founded in July 2025 by Kathryn and Dennis, who previously worked at Potager, Eat and Cook, and other fine dining restaurants but decided to venture out on their own. The current project is a collaboration with new concept Bakar by Night, a charcoal fire grill restaurant. The idea is to create a space for wine lovers to explore and appreciate wines in a cosy and relaxed ambience. Racines’ wine list features a progressive selection of wines by the glass. It is by far one of the best in town since both Kathryn and Dennis believe that there is always something new to explore. The bo...

Starting as a consulting business in 2016, ‘The Somm Vault Consultancy’ evolved into ‘Tasting Lab by The Somm Vault’ in 2018. The establishment was founded by Jessica Chong, a renowned sommelier with over 20 years’ experience in the business. Unlike other wine bars or restaurants providing a wine list, Jessica prefers to showcase her wines on the racks of a walk-in glass cellar, to enhance the recommendation process with visual prompts for the guests. The wines chosen by Jessica focus largely on the Old World, though she does offer some New World wines as well to please other palates. You’ll...

Under the same roof that manages EMP KL, Lavo and Lavo Gallery are other venues located at Tropicana township in Petaling Jaya. The interior is modern, artful and funky for Lavo and a classy underground cellar feel for Lavo Gallery. Lavo is a blend of three different concepts: Restaurant, Bistro and Wine Atelier, whereas Lavo Gallery is their underground retail and storage. The food in Lavo is based on the common Malaysian comfort food, from Asian to Western, and my all-time favourite will be the Nasi Lemak Berempah and a glass of German Riesling. Size does matter and the wine list in Lavo a...

Best Short List Southeast Asia 2026
If you are looking for a restaurant with only natural wine, I would say that Unwined Plus is worth a visit. The wine list starts from France, Italy and Spain in the Old World and continues to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in the New World where all the wines fall under either one of the categories of organic, biodynamic, sustainable and low intervention. The wines are selected by the owner/sommelier Hsiao Tung Wei. He was so dedicated and passionate about the wines from these categories that he eventually obtained a winery in Italy and started producing his dream wines under these c...
