Jakub Filipek, Michael Rønne Sørensen and Ketil Sauer were the finalists in the prestigious Danish Sommelier Championship. In the end, the experienced Filipek won.

The 2024 Danish Sommelier Championship was held on 2 September in cooperation with the Star Wine List of the Year Denmark event, which you can read about here.

Taking place at a new location, Matrikel1 in central Copenhagen, the finalists were put through the customary tough sommelier tasks, such as finding errors in wine lists and pouring wine to some fairly demanding guests. The jury was formed of experienced sommeliers and champions such as Arvid Rosengren and Henrik Dahl Jansen.

Winner Jakub Filipek has previously won Best Sommelier of Poland. After 18 months in Denmark, where his roles have included that of sommelier at Michelin-starred Formel B, he will move back to Warsaw this autumn.
