Bell's Wine List
About Bell's
Santa Barbara is one of California’s most exciting wine regions, but the first commercial vineyards didn’t go into the ground until the mid-1970s; moreover, it’s not quite within the same proximity to Los Angeles that the North Coast wine growing regions are to San Francisco, and so it’s remained sleepy. Despite this, Bell’s in tiny Los Alamos has been one of the most exciting new additions to the food and dining scene in the area.
Opened in 2018 by Greg and Daisy Ryan, both alums of top-flight hospitality venues in New York, Texas, and Los Angeles, Bell’s makes delightfully flavourful, unadorned new-wave California cuisine, tapping into the tremendous fresh produce all around them. The wine programs are much more adventurous than they need to be, and show the deep understanding (and love) of the world of wine. Certainly there are plenty of local offerings, but the list is otherwise a who’s who of farming-focused producers from across the world. Bell’s is a shining example of the sort of uncomplicated, pure experience of great food and great wine together which more restaurants should strive for.
