The long-awaited wine bar of Kuurna has become a real gem on Helsinki’s wine scene. Within its first year of opening, it was awarded the ‘Wine Bar of the Year’ by the Finnish wine magazine Viinilehti, and it works as a perfect place to either begin or end an evening if dining at their restaurant Kuurna, next door.

The wine list by the bottle is shared with the restaurant, but the by-the-glass programme is their own; it’s constantly changing, utilises Coravin to broaden the price range of wines on offer, and has new, themed three-sip tasting sets every three weeks.

The bar food supports the hedonistic drinking and there’s always space to be found somewhere, even if bookings are not taken. The wine list is rather unique for Helsinki, showcasing interesting small and sustainably oriented producers from various countries, including many outside of Europe.
