Piemonte Blind Tasting Competition for professionals

If you are a professional and you want to demonstrate your knowledge of Piemonte Wines, this is the perfect chance! Join Barolo&Friends and its brand new Piemonte Blind Tasting Competition!
Piemonte Blind Tasting Competition for horeca professionals: join the competition!
A unique sensory experience awaits professionals on May 14, 2025, at the 16th edition of Barolo & Friends, the largest event dedicated to Piedmont wines in Denmark: Consorzio I Vini del Piemonte presents the first Piedmont Blind Tasting Competition.
This innovative interactive competition will reward those with the highest knowledge of Piedmont wines. A maximum of thirty experts will compete to recognize 6 Piedmont wines served blind, answering an interactive quiz that will test their ability to identify: grape varieties, appellations, vintages, and, for example, aging techniques. Professionals will have the possibility to join the competition as single player or in teams of 2.
The competition is in collaboration with Thomas Ilkjaer and the team from WG23. Thomas Ilkjaer, renowned Danish wine journalist and author of the leading guide to Italian wines in Nordic countries, as well as head of the Vinakademiet sommelier school in Copenhagen is also behind the Danish Championsship in Blind Tasting, and the competition will use the same innovative digital answering system. Thanks to the interactive system, participants can use their devices (smartphones, tablets, PCs) and open the systems platform via QR code: after each wine (10 minutes), the wine will be revealed and scores will be displayed.
Grand finale: the winner will win an exclusive 3-day trip to Langa for two people in partnership with LoveLanghe, including visits to prestigious wineries, gastronomic experiences in typical restaurants and accommodation on Langhe Hills (flights, transfer and car rental not included). For the second and third place winners, there will be a magnum bottle prize!
