French classics or low intervention wines from up and coming regions and producers – in Bangkok, you will find it all. Check out this guide to some of the best wine bars in the city.

  1. Phone: +66 98 814 8997

Address: 30 Sala Daeng 1 Alley, Silom, Bang Rak

Located in the popular community mall “The Commons”, Cloud Wine is a great place to start your evening with a bottle of wine and some snacks from one of the many food vendors located in the same building. The wine bar itself is quite small, but cosy, and the staff is both knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. Wines can also be bought at favourable prices as take-away.

  2. Address: Wat Bowon Niwet, Phra Nakhon

Located in the old part of Bangkok, this small cosy wine bar is very hidden away inside a small alley. The selection of wines is small and well-curated and served by the passionate owner herself. There are small plates of food, and the atmosphere is intimate. The owners also operate a great cocktail bar on the floor above Kangkao. Give that a try as well.

  3. Phone: 097 293 5549

Address: 22 Maha Rat Road, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang

Mayrai is the poetic Thai word for spirits, hinting at the selection of the traditional Thai moonshine Ya Dong that is also on offer here. The main draw is, however, the selection of low intervention wines and the small menu of different kinds of very delicious Pad Thai. The place is small and cozy and with a view of some of the most spectacular temples in Bangkok. The ambitious Chef’s Table restaurant Nusara is located upstairs and well worth a visit if you can secure a seat at the table.

  4. Phone: +66 61 435 7744

Address: 38 Charoen Chai Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana

Opened by a group of friends with interests as diverse as grower Champagne, vinyl records and luxury handbags, this multi-use venue is both a café, a shop for records on vinyl and handbags. In the evening, it transforms into a wine bar and a restaurant. The food is classic bistro-style, and the service is friendly and informal. There’s usually live DJs or live music playing on the weekends.

  5. Phone: +66 2 656 1133

    Address: gaysorn shopping centre

Located in an upscale shopping mall in the middle of Bangkok, Riedel Wine Bar & Cellar centres around their enomatic dispenser that carries around 30 different wines by the glass at all times. On offer here are both First Growth Bordeaux and Grand Cru Burgundy together with small-production low intervention producers. All served in every type of Riedel glass, of course. They also serve classic bistro food and have an amazing terrace, overlooking one of the main intersections of downtown Bangkok.
