Rufina, Selvapiana, 2024Chianti has always been centered between Florence and Sienna, the original growing zone that was first recognized in 1713 by Cosimo Medici III. In the 1960's, plantings grew outside of the original zone(now called Classico) into almost the entire Tuscan region. In response to falling quality, subzones were created, one great one in the commune of Rufina. Rufina's Chiantis drink a little more rustically, more earthy than polished. The appellation's champion has always been the impeccable house of Selvapiana, who delivered another classic bottling in 2020. (Bin 1368)74
