Milan ambassador Cristina Mercuri: “I like kindness”
As our Milan list gains three Red Stars, ambassador Cristina Mercuri explains why these spots caught her attention.
“The new additions showed all the ingredients I like: perfect service, wide wine selection, kindness,” Cristina says. “Some of them are pretty new in the Milanese scene, others are historical.”
Cristina describes Milan’s current culinary trends as leaning “probably more and more [towards] ‘pret a porter’ restaurants, with a similar offering of food/wine and basic staff,” thus increasing the need for guides like Star Wine List.
And so what is Cristina looking for in a wine list? The answer is simple, but far from straightforward: “It must be various, with different ranges of prices, styles and origins,” she says. “Original but not extreme. Diversity is the key."
