An “incredible dynamic” at Star Wine List of the Year Germany 2025

On 17 March 2025 German sommeliers gathered for a very special ceremony at the ProWein wine fair in Düsseldorf. It was time for the Star Wine List of the Year Germany awards – our annual celebration of the best wine lists in the country and the outstanding teams behind them.
“What a treat to judge these lists, what a pleasure to see the incredible dynamic in Germany,” said judge Pascaline Lepeltier. “The quality of the selections, the depth, the pricing (and not only in the main wine-centric cities but around the country) make Germany a must-visit wine destination! Congrats to the whole sommelier community for such great work on making so many beautiful bottles, iconic or up-and-coming, available to us!”
Lepeltier was joined on the jury panel by sommeliers Jan Konetzki, Stefan Neumann MS and Emmanuel Rosier. The latter presented the awards with Star Wine List's Publisher, Krister Bengtsson, during a busy few days at Messe Düsseldorf, which also saw Star Wine List partaking in panel discussions and offering industry insights.
Here's a complete overview of the winners and finalists of Star Wine List of the Year Germany 2025. Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
