Ida Kymmer was one of Star Wine List’s ambassadors when we launched in South Korea last year. As Star Wine List continues to grow, Ida steps up to be our new Project Manager.
Welcome to Star Wine List! What is your new role?
”I’ll be acting as Project Manager. Some of the first projects I’ll manage are the Star Wine List of the Year events in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
What do you look forward to as Star Wine List’s new Project Manager?
”To work together with a global team consisting of some of the best sommeliers in the world to create great events.”
When and how did you get into the wine business?
”It all started in the Winelands outside Cape Town. I was there for holidays five years ago, and I immediately thought that these wines are far too underrepresented in the markets that I know the best - South Korea and Poland, and I jumped right in. Learned everything with the winemakers in the vineyards and the cellars, and about six months later, I hosted my first event in Seoul. Shortly after, I launched the campaign Wina z RPA in Poland, with events, trainings and tastings.”
You’ve been quite a globetrotter over the years – what city has had the most exciting wine scene, in your opinion? And why?
”Seoul. Because its people are curious and adventurous. They are extremely good at what they do at the same time as they embrace newness and change. The scene is vibrant and ever-changing, and you can find the most curious little spots tucked away in printing districts as well as the most upmarket champagne bars.”
What wine do you drink on a night off?
”Something I’ve never had before.”
Anything you want to add?
”I’m happy to be a part of the team and looking forward to being a part of developing Star Wine List to even greater reach across the world.”
