Among a strong field of competitors, Combo Vinbaren in Stockholm has emerged as the winner of Best By the Glass category at Star Wine List of the Year Sweden 2025.

Boasting a huge and yet exceedingly well-curated by-the-glass selection, Combo Vinbaren is a Star Wine List of the Year veteran, having won the Best Short List in Sweden, in 2022, and earned Silver Stars in both national and international competitions in various years.

This year, it was presented with the Gold Star for Sweden's Best By the Glass List, by category sponsor Riedel, at an event hosted at Stockholm's Skyddsrummet on 7 April.

Judge Nina Jensen described Combo Vinbaren as “a destination for its by-the-glass program. Here, the huge range stretches wide in terms of price points and styles, offering cool discoveries, nerdy niche things, great rarities, youthful charm, and well matured gems – all in one place!”

The wine bar will now join fellow Best By the Glass List winners from around the world, to compete in the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, which will be held in Vienna this June.

Categories and criteria

Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.

The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
