From cocktails to wine – Bar Hommage at Södermalm in Stockholm re-opens as a wine bar, with only French wines on the list. John Sterner, previously at Hornstulls Bodega and Djuret, is the sommelier behind the list.

”It is super exciting! The most important reason for this change is to integrate the bar with the restaurant next door, the French bistro Delikatessen,” says John.

John Sterner was recruited before the summer, and during the last few weeks, he’s been working hard to put together the list – which only contains French wines, with some extra focus on regions like Burgundy, Rhône, Bordeaux and Jura.

”The goal is to work dynamically and to be able to offer both affordable drinkable wines from classic regions and some rare and instagram-friendly wines. We just got started, and the goal is to build the wine list from today’s 150 references to around 200.”

Even though the bar now changes direction, the idea is to still also make cocktail- and beer lovers feel at home – everyone’s welcome says John.

”First and foremost, the wine bar is a meeting point; it doesn’t matter if you want a beer, a classic cocktail or a bottle of Pierre Gonon. Still, the main point will be the wine list, and I hope that all the wine explorers out there will find their way here.”
