About Wild Tavern
Wild Tavern brings a new relaxed vibe to the smart neighbourhood of Chelsea. The menu oozes quality sourcing; ingredients are prepared simply but skilfully – Gillardeau oysters, raw Sicilian red prawns, whole lobster, fresh pasta, and impeccably sourced beef. It’s food everyone likes to eat and a menu that allows wine at least equal if not greater billing.
The list has around 200 references – grand marque Champagnes and a handful of other sparklers, 10 by the glass and half bottle carafe, plus extra ‘delights from the Coravin’. France dominates on white and there’s a very smart list of reds (from France and Italy primarily) lined up for whichever cut of Galician beef has caught your eye.
For a modest sized list, Crispin had managed to balance cult bottles from Europe (like PYCM, Foillard, Barthod, Rostaing) with big hitters from Bordeaux, Piedmont and Napa, plus a smattering of the ‘new world, new wave’ (Matthiasson, Storm). Prices aren’t as high as you’d expect given the location… although the opportunity to splurge is there: magnums include ‘73 Gaia Barbaresco and ‘95 Cheval Blanc. Wild Tavern is a place to eat well, feel fabulous – glassware is Zalto – and revel in hours vinous fuelled festivities.
