Vino Bien
Wine Bar
Mendoza, Argentina

About Vino Bien
Vino Bien is my favorite wine bar in the city. It takes every element of wine seriously, from the excellent stemware to the serving temperature. These details are no small feat in Argentina, which sadly often lacks fine-tuning. You are, however, in good hands at Vino Bien with experienced sommelier Rodrigo Kohn manning the operation and sourcing one of the most diverse collections of wines from all over the country. The small menu is well thought out from a wine perspective, with tasting bites categorized by flavours – sweet, spicy, acid, bitter, for example – and slightly larger tapas plates with delicacies sorted by region, ranging from alligator croquettes from Northern Argentina to Patagonian scallops.
Sommelier Rodrigo Kohn has made it his mission to pull together a collection of wines which represents every single wine production region of Argentina. It’s an impressive mission accomplished, and there are some very niche bottles in Vino Bien’s large offering. Options by the glass are a bit pricey considering the 150ml pour; buying by the bottle is far better value. Despite this shortcoming, VinoBien is the best spot for guided wine tastings in Mendoza without visiting a winery. The bar tender makes a mean negroni, too.
