About Steampunk
Steampunk is a restaurant located in the old water tower in the town of Pszczyna, in Silesia. It made its return in 2024 after several years of not operating; previously known as Wodna Wieża (“water tower”), it was well-known among foodies in Poland.
From the start, the restaurant focused on a very unique décor, with the entire design inspired by the Victorian era, which also ties into the Steampunk style. There are various mechanisms – glass, metal, and leather. Located on the eighth floor, the restaurant, with its glass walls, offers a fantastic view.
The entire tower is now part of a well thought concept including apartments, a spa area, and a bistro at the very bottom where guests can come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Here, you can order wine to drink on-site or take it to go.
Steampunk is rooted in fine dining, offering both à la carte options and a tasting menu. Like many great restaurants, it relies on excellent products, local suppliers, and focuses on depth of flavour and proper execution, while also maintaining a clear, classic style. French cuisine is probably the closest reference, with items like foie gras, quail, duck, Dover sole, and Polish touches like tartare and mushrooms.
About the Steampunk Wine List
What sets Steampunk apart is the very careful selection of wines, featuring some of the best producers available on the Polish market. The selection is progressive, focusing on estates that are relatively young but have been around long enough to have established a strong presence among wine lovers.
There are hot names from Piedmont, modern Rioja, Spanish regions that have only recently gained wider recognition, Northern Rhône, the new wave from Burgundy, a broad selection from the Jura and Beaujolais, and finally, small estates from Champagne.
