About Ode
ODÉ is a neighbourhood bistro that also straddles fine dining, launched in early 2024. It’s a modish small-diner, a co-creation between Executive Chef, Simon Ming, and acclaimed sommelier, Bhatia Dheeraj.
Dheeraj, who was until recently Star Wine List’s Ambassador for South Australia (and now represents the UAE), has a string of accolades to his name, having headed up award-winning wine programs in Sydney, at The Peninsula Hong Kong, Robuchon au Dôme in Macau, Raffles Singapore, the Roundhouse in Cape Town, and Burj Al Arab in Dubai. He and Ming worked together at another Adelaide dining institution, arkhé, before hatching a plan to branch out on their own.
At ODÉ, the food philosophy respects classic techniques and flavours with a contemporary twist, highlighting flavours from France, Spain and Asia. It’s delicious.
On the wine front, this list is concise but discerning, and still developing, with astute choices reflecting a dynamic blend of Australian and international wines. Dheeraj’s passions include Champagne and Old World classics, which receive a fair mention on the list. To this end, premium international wines are offered at remarkably affordable retail prices to elevate the dining experience. This concept works well with the neighbourhood bistro location, which attracts an aspirational dining crowd.
ODÉ succeeds at making fine dining accessible with friendly service and reasonable pricing, where the hopes is that you “enter as a guest and depart as a friend.”
