About Le Saleya
When Le Saleya opened in 2004, it was one of the first French bistros in Shanghai. Shanghainese OG sommelier Jeffrey Yao took over in 2020 and began the ever more intimate connection between food and wine. Jeffrey’s enthusiasm for gastronomy also led him to undertake a stage with renowned French chef Nicolas Le Bec; that experience enabled him to lead Le Saleya’s kitchen. The bistro serves traditional family-style French food with Mediterranean and Asian twists, which makes for fascinating combinations: everything depends on Jeffrey's inspirations and the day’s market finds. His wine selection is also in constant motion, a solid mix of classic bottles and natural glup-glups. Like many other wine bars and bistros in town, Le Saleya displays bottles on shelves, but it also has a secret cellar. Deeper pockets should ask Jeffrey to browse the cellar!
