About La Catalista
La Catalista is a wine bar in the Born neighbourhood that opened in 2019. Its culinary offering, a menu designed by chef Laila Bazham, is now in the hands of chef Mario Llorente. On the wine side, we find the sommelier Erin Nixon but also Sergi and Rebeka, a trio of super passionate wine geeks.
Here, you get a mini pairing menu with by-the-glass wines, for example the Akami tuna ceviche with kimchi emulsion and horseradish cream matched with a local sparkling wine, or seasonal mushrooms with tonatto sauce, watercress and edible flowers paired with a refreshing red Sumoll.
All pairings are made following the criteria of molecular pairing, created by François Chartier and explained in his best-seller “Taste buds and Molecules” (François is today living in Barcelona, by the way). In terms of food and wine pairing, success is assured.
La Catalista Wine List
The wine list is based on unique Catalan references. Wineries are chosen with great care: all of them have unique stories and soul, but also impeccable taste and authenticity. Currently, the wine menu has about 20 references, but it is extremely dynamic (many of them change every week). A truly unique wine pairing experience.
