About Horoshiy God
Horoshiy God translates as “a good year” in English and this restaurant’s owners are rumoured to have taken inspiration from Peter Mayle’s eponymous 2004 novel (later adapted into a film starring Russell Crowe) in naming it. It is one of Almaty’s most established restaurants, located in the city centre.
Chef Oleg Petrichenko boasts extensive experience including high-end restaurants in Moscow and numerous internships across Europe and the USA. He puts an Asian twist on classic yet contemporary European cuisine.
This culinary excellence is complemented by a top-class wine list curated by Alexander Glyants, named Best Sommelier of Kazakhstan in 2021. The focus is on traditional French wine-growing regions and well-established estates, including a good selection of old vintages. There are also some exclusive listings that make this a true wine destination.
In a rapidly changing world, Horoshiy God stands as an island of timeless classicism. It offers a sanctuary where guests can enjoy the enduring values of fine dining, impeccable service, and a deep appreciation for the art of gastronomy.
