About Hackney Coterie

Hackney Coterie is permanently closed.

Situated on the intersection of Dalston and Hackney Downs in East London (right next door to the station – very convenient), Hackney Coterie is a warehouse wine bar and bistro. One of the three co-founder friends is sommelier Kelvin McCabe (formerly holding top positions at the Adam Handling Group and Yauatcha) and along with his two partners they bring some high-end experience to this super hip corner of the city. Set over two floors, the space is open, urban and inviting. If you don’t have time to sit in you can buy wine, cheese and coffee to take away.

There’s clearly plenty of technique in the kitchen, showcasing flavours from all of the world, especially influences from the far east, resulting in a menu of flavour-charged snacks, small plates and large plates perfect for soaking up whatever is in your glass.

The list spans small and lesser-known producers – ticking all the biodynamic, organic and wild boxes – to others choosing to stay true to classical roots. Kelvin has a particular interest in Sake, so don’t forget to explore in that direction too.
