Grub & Vine Wine List
About Grub & Vine
Grub & Vine is the place to go when you want to have a night out (or a long lunch) with excellent food and a great wine list. Chef and owner Matt Manning and his team have created something genuinely refined and curated. The menu is bistro-style and seasonal, where you can do two or three courses (with or without wine pairing) or order from the a la carte options. The menu's staple is definitely the Arancini, affectionately called "Matt's Balls" by the many regular patrons.
The sommelier on the floor each night is Keize Mumba. Wildly knowledgeable, working his way through WSET Diploma, and with an accomplished industry background. The wine list gives you a little bit of everything from the classics like Newton Johnson and Stark Conde to the up-and-comers like SpiderPig and Caravel. If you want to go international, you will also find Champagne's and Burgundy's on the list.
If you find yourself heading here on a Wednesday, be sure to book a spot for the weekly "Vine Night". Great wine producers from all over the Western Cape come in and host a complimentary sit-down tasting from 6pm-7pm, but sign up early; they fill up quickly!
My recommendation: start with "Vine Night", stay for dinner, then pop over to Culture to continue into the night (it's literally across the hall).

Grub & Wine is a great example and proof that a great wine list does not necessarily have to be long. Exciting and fun layout headlining different grape varieties and playful styles, great selection by the glass, and a list that features not only cult classics from South Africa but also a fine selection of well-known French wines, says jury member Raimonds Tomsons, ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2023, when Grub & Wine won gold for Best Short List 2023.
