Bel Ami

Facing the charming Place Santhonay, Bel Ami is an intimate wine bar and restaurant where you simply feel at home. The food is meant to be shared and channels a friendly spirit that you find in the place and among the staff. The stoned wall, the leather banquets and the wooden tables highlight the purity and authenticity you see on your plate and in your glass. At night, the Chef makes tapas-style cuisine so that you can taste pretty much everything, creating your own menu from the blackboard. Don’t miss the Iberico ham croquetas or the caramelized octopus!

At Bel Ami, the wine list is entirely sourced directly from the winemakers. You might even run into one of them enjoying lunch or dropping samples. The selection is “niche”, with around 100 wines you will hardly find in other restaurants in Lyon. They are thoughtfully selected from Rhône, Loire, Burgundy or Languedoc, and offered at a fair price. They have the fragrant Fleurie from Domaine Chapel or the delicate Charlouise Pinot Noir from Vincent Pinard in Sancerre, among other nice surprises. The staff is very accommodating too, engaging and passionate about wine! Ask for Thomas, the sommelier. He is building the wine selection along with the owner Sébastien Huillard.
