Located in one of downtown Reykjavík’s busiest cocktail bar and nightclub areas, this gem serves as an oasis amidst its more boisterous neighboring establishments. Nestled on the second floor of a charming, old, corrugated iron building, this wine bar is the picture of class. A tasteful collage of blue velvet furniture and brass mirrors give the rather spacious interior warmth with a chic vibe. For those who enjoy fresh air and sunshine with their wine, the little patio out back is entirely shielded from the elements. Given Reykjavík’s windy demeanour, a find like this is the weather equivalent of striking gold. Should you be visiting during our sun-deprived winter months, the northern lights will have to suffice. The wine program is entirely dedicated to France with an emphasis on smaller producers from whom the wines are imported directly. An uncommon and refreshing practice in Iceland. The cherry on top is the team. Their friendly yet unobtrusive service and the high level of knowledge make Apéro a solid spot for everything from a first date to drinks after a business dinner. Definitely one of my favorite hang-outs.
