Akur is the type of restaurant that calls for either a long evening with multiple courses or an early dinner before heading off to the Opera. Conveniently enough, it is located down by the Reykjavík harbor just around the corner from the Harpa Concert Hall. It shares a space with one of the more polished food halls in town though its clean-cut layout and stylish décor make for a far more elegant dining environment. The wine list is quite Champagne and Burgundy forward though some big names and their flagships from other areas can be found as well. The Bordeaux section offers vintages not often found on lists in the city. By the glass, guests have a pretty decent selection as they do wine pairings with the tasting menus which caters to carnivores and vegans alike.
